PUBLIC HEALTHCARE & AWARENESS PROGRAM AGAINST VECTOR BORNE DISEASES.

A free insecticide mosquito net distribution program was organized in Bauridih Panchayat of Islampur block of Nalanda district of Bihar under the aegis of Socio Economic Research Institute under the CSR of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). Program was inaugurated by Nalanda MP Shri Kaushalendra Kumar by cutting the ribbon. 4200 BPL families were benefited by distributing insecticide mosquito nets and were also made aware about the prevention of dengue and malaria. Insecticide mosquito nets are manufactured by the Government of India and approved by the Ministry of Health and WHO. On behalf of the CSR initiative of BPCL, the SERI distributed the Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) to the people of different villages of Islampur block in the presence of BPCL manager Mrs. Nitish Bharti. India has committed to zero indigenous malaria cases by 2027 and elimination by 2030. The annual change in seasons sees emergence of the menace of vector-borne diseases in India. Even after attaining advancement in Science and Technology, we have not been able to fully control the spread of vector-borne diseases. Now, SERI has collaborated with HIL (India) for procurement and free-of-cost distribution of an effective product namely, LLIN, medicated mosquito nets, amongst the vulnerable sections in the project/ target area. It would prove to be very effective in controlling the menace of Malaria and Dengue, especially in rural, tribal and remote areas of the country, generally habituated by marginalized population with meagre sources of livelihood.
