On December 25, 2024, the Sirbit village of Kaimur district Bihar will be witness of a historic and promising event with the foundation stone laying ceremony for the rejuvenation and beautification of the village pond. A ceremonial foundation stone will laid by the chief guest, Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mining, Govt. of India, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey Ji. This momentous occasion marks the beginning of a transformative journey that aims to restore the pond to its former glory while enhancing its environmental, cultural, and aesthetic value. Our organisation Socio Economic Research Institute (SERI) is implementing agency and General Insurance Corporation (GIC Re) is CSR Partner for above mentioned project. A benefit programme entitled, “Sustainable Rejuvenation, Beautification and Restoration of Sirbit village pond, Chainpur sub-division of Kaimur District, Bihar” for Environmental Upgradation & Groundwater Recharge and Religious, Cultural and Recreational Public Participation that shall benefit its adjoining villages, as well. This shall be a model programme for other village Panchayats in the area to emulate. The rejuvenation and beautification of the village pond is just the beginning of a larger movement towards environmental sustainability and cultural preservation. As the project progresses, it will also open doors for tourism, local events, and cultural gatherings that will foster a sense of unity and pride among the villagers. Water Quality Restoration: Through advanced filtration systems, aeration, and bio-remediation techniques, the pond will be cleaned and restored to provide a healthy environment for aquatic life and the surrounding ecosystem.
Landscape Design: The beautification plan includes planting trees, shrubs, and flowers around the pond, creating scenic walkways, installing decorative lighting, and building wooden decks and seating areas.
Community Engagement: The rejuvenation project emphasizes active community participation. Local artisans will contribute to the design and construction of the decorative elements, ensuring the pond is not only a space for environmental restoration but also a symbol of local culture.
Sustainability: The project integrates rainwater harvesting and solar- powered lighting systems to ensure that the pond remains a sustainable resource for the village in the years to come.
