In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in Odisha, the Socio Economic Research Institute (SERI), in collaboration with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has donated two fully equipped life-saving ambulances to Balasore District. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in emergency medical services, particularly in rural and remote areas where access to timely healthcare is a challenge.
Balasore, with its widespread rural population, faces numerous challenges in healthcare delivery, especially in times of emergencies. For many residents, reaching a hospital during a critical situation often involves long and difficult journeys. To address this pressing issue, NVVN and SERI joined hands to provide ambulances equipped with advanced medical facilities. SERI donated two ambulances—one ALS (Advanced Life Support) and one BLS (Basic Life Support)—each fitted with modern equipment like defibrillators, oxygen support, and monitoring devices. The ALS ambulance is specifically designed to handle critical care cases, ensuring that patients receive advanced medical attention while in transit. The BLS ambulance will serve as a vital link for patients requiring basic life-saving interventions, offering crucial support for less critical emergencies. This upgrade in medical transportation not only strengthens the district’s healthcare infrastructure but also promises to save countless lives by ensuring that patients can reach hospitals in time for essential treatment.
On October 19, 2024, the ambulances were officially handed over to the district health authorities in a ceremony attended by prominent dignitaries. Mr. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Member of Parliament of Balasore, flagged off the ambulances and handed the keys to the Chief Health Officer, Mr. Anil Mohanty. Mr. Sarangi emphasized the importance of improving healthcare access in rural areas and applauded NVVN and SERI for their efforts to enhance emergency medical services in the region. The entire event was coordinated by SERI’s Program Coordinator, Mr. Raghuvansh Singh, highlighting the organization’s commitment to public health initiatives across the country.
