Improving Healthcare Access: SERI Donates Life-Saving Ambulances in Balasore

In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in Odisha, the Socio Economic Research Institute (SERI), in collaboration with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has donated two fully equipped life-saving ambulances to Balasore District. This initiative aims to bridge the gap in emergency medical services, particularly in rural and remote areas where access to timely healthcare is a challenge.

Addressing a Critical Need

Balasore, with its widespread rural population, faces numerous challenges in healthcare delivery, especially in times of emergencies. For many residents, reaching a hospital during a critical situation often involves long and difficult journeys. To address this pressing issue, NVVN and SERI joined hands to provide ambulances equipped with advanced medical facilities. SERI donated two ambulances—one ALS (Advanced Life Support) and one BLS (Basic Life Support)—each fitted with modern equipment like defibrillators, oxygen support, and monitoring devices. The ALS ambulance is specifically designed to handle critical care cases, ensuring that patients receive advanced medical attention while in transit. The BLS ambulance will serve as a vital link for patients requiring basic life-saving interventions, offering crucial support for less critical emergencies. This upgrade in medical transportation not only strengthens the district’s healthcare infrastructure but also promises to save countless lives by ensuring that patients can reach hospitals in time for essential treatment.

Ceremony Highlights

On October 19, 2024, the ambulances were officially handed over to the district health authorities in a ceremony attended by prominent dignitaries. Mr. Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Member of Parliament of Balasore, flagged off the ambulances and handed the keys to the Chief Health Officer, Mr. Anil Mohanty. Mr. Sarangi emphasized the importance of improving healthcare access in rural areas and applauded NVVN and SERI for their efforts to enhance emergency medical services in the region. The entire event was coordinated by SERI’s Program Coordinator, Mr. Raghuvansh Singh, highlighting the organization’s commitment to public health initiatives across the country.

Impact on the Local Community.

The introduction of these ambulances will have a far-reaching impact on the healthcare landscape in Balasore. Residents in remote areas, who previously struggled with limited access to emergency services, will now benefit from quicker and more reliable transport to healthcare facilities. This initiative is especially crucial for addressing maternal health emergencies, road accidents, and critical illness cases.

CSR in Action.

This initiative reflects NVVN’s mission to support the development of underserved communities through its CSR projects. By focusing on regions that need urgent healthcare infrastructure improvements, NVVN, along with SERI, is making a positive and lasting difference in the lives of people in Balasore. SERI’s dedication to healthcare, women’s empowerment, education, and community development remains unwavering as they continue to implement similar impactful projects across India.

Conclusion.

SERI's donation of two fully equipped ambulances to Balasore district represents a major leap forward in improving healthcare access for rural and remote communities. This collaboration between SERI and NVVN highlights the power of CSR in transforming lives, ensuring that medical help reaches those who need it the most. With better emergency medical services now in place, the people of Balasore can look forward to a safer, healthier future.
